Wiktor Piątkowski – screenwriter, producer, academic lecturer. He studied at the Leon Schiller’s National Film, Television and Drama School in Łódz, London Film School and Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin. He is also a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics and Psychology Department at the Warsaw University.
Education
Wiktor Piatkowski has a PhD in economic studies, specializing in TV market management. He has also been a participant of many international programs dedicated to screenwriters and TV producers: Serial Eyes, European TV Drama Series Lab, European Showrunner Programme, the Owl and Racconti as well as many workshops led by the most eminent screenwriting tutors, including Syd Field, John Truby, Robert McKee, Linda Seger and Dov Simens. Among his teachers and mentors there are some of the best TV creators from Hollywood, including James V. Hart (“Dracula”, “Hook”, “Contact”), Frank Spotnitz (“The X Files”, “The Man in the High Castle”, “Medici”), Graham Yost (“Speed”, “Justified”, “The Americans”) and Jonathan Shapiro (“The Blacklist”, “Goliath”, “The Firm”).
Achievements
Wiktor Piątkowski created the idea and the concept and is a co-writer of “Wataha” (eng. “The Pack” or “The Border”), the first original HBO series which was produced in Poland. He also wrote four Netflix original romantic comedies - "Heart Parade" and three parts of "Squared Love". He is also the first Polish filmmaker who has ever co-created an original series for German television (“Just Push Abuba”, ZDF). As a screenwriter, headwriter, creative producer or script doctor he co-created over 1.100 episodes of series produced and broadcasted by the biggest TV stations in Poland (TVP, TVN, Polsat, HBO, Viaplay, Canal+), including the premium TV series like "Murderesses", "Sortownia" and "Vote of No Confidence". He also cooperates as a screenwriter and creative producer with leading European production companies. Wiktor Piątkowski is also a producer of feature films ("Święta inaczej"), documentary films (“Over the Mountains”), short films („Reset”) and series (“Lullaby”, "Social Murder" and "Delivery Monkeys" co-produced with Black Sheep Films from France).
Wiktor Piątkowski was one of the Berlinale Talents during the International Film Festival in Berlin in 2016, in 2020 he was chosen to the “Producers to Watch” program at the MIPTV festival in Cannes and in 2021 he joined the Canneseries Writers Club.
He is also a regular participant in international festivals, and the premium series developed by him were presented at industry events, including in Berlin, Rome, Munich, Lille, Tallinn and Odessa.
Wiktor Piątkowski is also the founder of BAHAMA FILMS and since 2010, he organizes the most popular screenwriting workshops in Poland (over 1,000 graduates). Since 2008, he has been a member of the Polish Filmmakers Association and since 2019 also of the Polish Screenwriters' Guild.
